IP Video and Surveillance Systems

An Internet protocol camera, or IP camera, is a type of digital video camera commonly employed for surveillance, and which, unlike analog closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras, can send and receive data via a computer network and the Internet. Although most cameras that do this are webcams, the term "IP camera" or "netcam" is usually applied only to those used for surveillance.

The CCTV or video surveillance , sometimes referred to by the acronym English CCTV (closed circuit television), is a system of cameras and transmission of images arranged in a public or private space for the monitor at a distance; so this is a type of remote monitoring . Images obtained with this system, can be processed automatically and / or viewed and archived or destroyed. Monitoring is used to control the conditions of respect safety , the safety or performance of a particular procedure.

Professional video over IP systems use some existing standard video codec to reduce the program material to a bitstream (e.g., an MPEG transport stream), and then to use an Internet Protocol (IP) network to carry that bitstream encapsulated in a stream of IP packets. This is typically accomplished using some variant of the RTP protocol.
